Our story

In the spring of 1965, J & A Tool Company began its journey in the modest garage of Jack C. Smith and his wife, Audrey. Founded as a tool and die business to serve the plastic injection industry, the company quickly outgrew its humble beginnings. By 1968, J & A Tool moved into a newly constructed facility, expanding further in 1979 while continuously enhancing its equipment and capabilities.

In 1991, Jack’s son, Jack “Lee” Smith, acquired the company and upheld its reputation for designing and building complex, close-tolerance tools and injection molds for a wide range of industries. However, the economic challenges of 2008 prompted a strategic pivot, shifting the company’s focus from tool and die manufacturing to general machining. This adaptation allowed J & A Tool to thrive, leading to further facility expansions and technological advancements.

Lee retired in 2013, passing the torch to his wife, Cyndi, and their sons, Steve and Charlie, who carried on the family tradition. The company celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015, a testament to its enduring commitment to quality and innovation. In 2019, Steve and Charlie became co-owners, ensuring J & A Tool’s legacy of excellence continues.

With a foundation in precision tool and die craftsmanship, J & A Tool remains dedicated to specialized machining and engineering, consistently striving to exceed customer expectations and deliver superior results.
